Nursing Home Placement Decision for the Frail Elderly Cared for by Daughters vs Daughters-in-Law

Abstract
This study was for examined to find out which factors effects to a daughters and daughters-in-law who supports their elderly people to decide whether they want to Nursing Home Placement for the frail elderly or not. On this purpose, it was surveyed for elderly and their families who use 3 level elderly for elderly and th service system and have a possibility to enter the nursing-home later on. The characteristics and dependence for elderly, care burden, the social support, the pattern of using social service and the satisfaction were the main field that considered to figure out the determinant of inclination of entering Nursing Home. According to the results, daughter has a tendency to support the elderly with a financial hardship compare to a daughter-in-law. Secondly, it showed the higher preference of Nursing Home placement. The higher level of educations, the higher dependence of elderly, not in the good relationship, better in health conditions, the higher in burden of supporting, using often in-home care service and the lower satisfaction of service. For the last, there are little bit differences between daughters and daughters-in-law to enter the Nursing Home. These results are produced useful suggestions to prevent to entering to Nursing Home early that is requested to make specific plan which reduce care burden for supporting family caregivers and to make better quality to extend elderly caregiving at home.
